Street Teams
With an army of volunteers, our trolley continues to go out on the streets of Gloucester 5 times a week, providing God's promises and prayers.
The Street Teams' aim is to achieve the following:
Welfare checks on individuals
Encouragement to use the GCM Homeless Day Provision
Submit "Streetlink" referrals where appropriate
Provision of hot drinks, biscuits and emergency food provision on Saturdays, along with useful information of all the services available throughout the City Centre.
Homeless Day Provision
Run by the Manager Nathan, Assistant Nicole and regular volunteers, we provide a safe and loving space - where prayer is always available.
Our street family can access:
Hot showers
Clean clothes, including brand new underwear
A hot meal cooked with love, and a continual flow of hot/cold drinks
"Crash pads", for those who need sleep
Appointments with P3 and Gloucester City Council
Support to make and attend appointments with the Homeless Healthcare Team
A free Optician’s clinic every Monday
A Podiatry clinic every 6 weeks
A laundry service
Sleeping bags
Hot Food Service
Hot Food Service is a takeaway service, serving on average 45 people a week who are homeless and/or vulnerable. A nutritious meal is cooked in our Commercial Kitchen by 3 volunteers.
We pride ourselves on never giving a meal that we wouldn’t personally eat or put on our own table, and we are known for the best food in Gloucester. Staff are supported by 5 volunteers, 2 trustees and Reverend Pat Gifford.
We also run Prayer and Praise sessions on the second Wednesday of each month which are available to all who would like to join. These are led by Ollie Bennett, Spiritual Trustee and Pastor of Kingfisher Church.
Recovery Support
Meet James, our new Recovery Lead - he is a highly experienced and compassionate professional with a strong background in addiction recovery, counselling, trauma-informed care, and housing and benefits advocacy.
James empowers clients with practical tools to sustain sobriety, process past trauma, and pursue personal growth. His work focuses on helping people access meaningful opportunities in training, education, and employment through dedicated mentoring and support.
James is also the facilitator of Rise and Renew, Gloucester’s first charitable group therapy program for addiction recovery delivered outside a residential setting. Since launching in October, the group has become a cornerstone of recovery for many across the city, offering consistent, community-based therapeutic support.
GCM Coffee Lounge
The coffee lounge is a place to relax, enjoy ethically sourced hot drinks, homemade cakes and treats or cold drinks whilst supporting our work. But it is also more than that.
It is a place where we can offer employment, volunteering and training opportunities to people who have lived experience of homelessness or addiction.
In March 2023, our coffee lounge was even featured on BBC's Songs of Praise! Upstairs is a commercial kitchen where we now run all of our Street Teams out of (5 days a week), plus we offer cooking lessons to clients living in temporary accommodation or those moving into permanent housing.
Visits & Talks
We welcome visits from Churches, local businesses and other professional services and agencies to show you how GCM operates.
Church talks are available for Sunday Service or smaller groups, with timings and content to suit you. This also gives GCM the opportunity to share our "Good News" stories, faith journeys and how we spread the Gospel.
We love to visit schools, Infant, Primary and Secondary, and we can accommodate different audiences - from whole school assemblies to smaller group talks. All our presentations are age appropriate and informative, offering information on how children can keep safe, why there is homelessness and how to help.
