Dave joined GCM in November 2014; He was a founder of Project Beacon and has been working with our street friends in some form for almost 10 years now. He has recently taken over from Mike Curtis, who retired in May 2015. Dave finds the prospect of heading up Gloucester City Mission and Project Beacon a very exciting one and hopes we continue to go from strength to strength as we bring both organisations together in helping those in need, in building relationships and seeing growth in God’s Kingdom.
Trustee and Volunteer
Ade joined Gloucester City Mission in May 2011 as a volunteer and in October 2013 was appointed as a trustee. He is the first volunteer to take on both roles. As GCM enters into a very exciting time of transition and development, he is looking forward to what the Lord has planned for GCM and being able to play a big part in fulfilling those plans.
GCM Centre Coordinator
Nick joined GCM in June 2017; Nick has previously worked as the Operations manager for the Mariners Church, he will be dividing his time between his role at the City Mission and as the Operations Officer for Gloucester Cathedral. Nick has been volunteering with various organisations working with street people for several years and has a heart to help these people move forward with life.
“I feel that my own life experiences can be used by God to really connect with the people who the City Mission supports on a daily basis”
Nick is looking forward to supporting the Mission in what he believes is a very exciting time, as it looks to grow the services that are offered to the vulnerable in our City.
Sue joined the Gloucester City Mission team in June, 2014, to take on the task of managing the office’s administration. When not at GCM, Sue does administration for The Bizz (Gloucester) a youth charity working with young people in Gloucester.
Gloucester City Mission could not effectively reach its friends on the street week in and week out without the dedicated support of our wonderful team of volunteers. These individuals come from all walks of life, and are passionate about taking the love of Christ onto the streets of Gloucester.
Under the direction of Dave and Ade, the volunteers gather every Wednesday morning at The George Whitfield Centre in the centre of Gloucester. In teams, they are able to reach out to the homeless and hurting, providing warm drinks, food and friendship. The centre is also open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 2pm – 4pm
The Trustees and Accountant
The Trustees and Accountant of Gloucester City Mission work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the legal and business requirements of running a charity are fully met. This team function like the inner workings of a clock; hardly seen but vital in making the whole thing tick.
As a registered charity it is essential that we continue to satisfy the Charity Commission Board by running GCM effectively and legally. Without the guidance of the hard working Trustees and Accountant this would be impossible to do.
